i have one, hes really active and has a large personality, ie. drags his trees around his viv. digs holes, then u get him out and hes a live wire.

expencive to set up, and lots to learn. but better than a cat!

Used to rescue loads of these, horrid things, they eat like a dog, sh!t all day, smell bad, need lots of room..... there like rats... dont pay more than £25 for one if you do..

Have you thought about going a bit more up market? panther chameleon? Tegu? A nice monitor?

There's lots out there, google rf**k and have a look through the classifieds?

Got 2 cats and all they do is sleep, wake up for food and then go back to sleep again. Bearded dragon cant be much more boring than that.

Sorry to contradict all those of you who say beardies are boring. You obviously ain't doing it right. My son has two, one male, one female and they are both lively as you like. They are got out and handled daily, put on laminate floor and do the silly cartoon run (all action, no motion). They sh!t once a week, though it is a pile, eat 15/20 adult locust or 40ish adult crickets (food bought in bulk isn't so dear) as well as plenty of fruit and veg (no salad, gives them the runs). We don't breed them, far too many beardies on the market but it's a doddle if you want to. The set up cost us about 80 quid though I built the viv myself (it's a 4x2x2, materials cost 30 quid). A bag of kiln dried sand on the viv floor, 4 quid a year, does a good job and makes cleaning easy.

My advice, go for it, beardies are like any other pet. You get out of them what you put in.
