Title: Alloys for winter
Post by: scottishpedro on 29 November 2011, 21:07
Hi all

I am looking to get a set of wheels to put winter tyres on.  I have copied the following text from a local advert, will these alloys fit my 8v Mk2 GTI?  If so what tyres size should I get? (I currently have 195/50/15 on)

4 Fox Alloy wheels
15" diameter, 6.5" width
4x100 PCD, VW, Vauxhall, MX-5
47.8mm centrebore
Complete with centre caps
Come with the spigot rings for a MX-5

Thanks

Pedro

Pretty sure the mk2 centre bore is 57.1mm, IIRC.

So you'd need to get the centre bores drilled out to that diameter.

Vauxhall wheels should be fine.

I have Calibra ones on my Valver.

Get a set of G60 steelies, dirt cheap, look good, and just replace with a new one if you curb it :lipsrsealed:

Yeah get steelies - much easier to look after in dirty old winter weather.

IIRC you can still get G60's from the dealer for ~40 each.

9 and 9.5" x 16" BBS RS's with stainless dishes are what you need.

With the grief I had building mine, I don't think you'll find another set homes.

According to ETKA G60 steelies (15" rims) are £57 each whilst 14" steelies as fitted to GTI and others are £51 each - in case you are interested!
