Hi, I've brought my Golf up to Uni for the week but the M.O.T is due! And I won't be able to get it home unless I get it done lol, but I'm not familiar with any garages in Sheffield, does anyone know any reliable ones that won't rip me off?

Thanks is advance

you are best taking it to a council run mot station as they dont carry out repaires so they will not try and pull your pants down saying it needs loads of work when it does not like a lot of garages try and do if they have no work on

true but if it's a piece of sh1t they'll rip it apart. plus once it's failed an m.o.t the only place you can drive it from there is a garage to get it fixed.

Thanks for the idea, but I've heard they're quite strict! I'm a little worried, my cars not falling apart or anything I know most aspects of the M.O.T test and I've made sure they're fine but theres a little chip near the drivers side of the windscreen and its got advisories on the past 2 MOTs! Don't want them to fail it on that because I can't afford a windscreen replacement just now lol

I've always used Tavern Service Station up in Crosspool. Assuming you're at Sheffield University and not Hallam, then it's a two minute drive up the A57 from Broomhill. My Golf and Beetle have been there a few times over the past 3 years and I've never had a complaint - but as they've always passed their MOTs then I suppose I wouldn't have, would I?

Yeah I'm at sheffield university! I think I'll check this one out, thanks

Nice one. Andy up there is the one that has always worked on my Mk2 and Beetle. Think they've got another bloke who's the MOT assessor. Give them a ring first as you'll need to book a couple of days in advance if you want to slot in for an MOT and have potential repair jobs turned around the same day.

I have a strong feeling this is the garage that looks after my brother in law's cars, and always highly recommended, from memory, as you drive up the hill out of Sheffield, they are on the left hand side of the road, directly opposite a Pub with a large front car park...
not cheap, but a proper honest job

Yep - that's them. The pub is the Crosspool Tavern and they use the car park for the cars once they're finished with them. Definitely recommended.
