Why don't someone make the search function more visible before you start a new thread. Maybe when you click new thread have a search pop up?

I'm board of it. only read 25% of new threads.

Mk2 owners are in a class of there own who pays over the odds for new old stock WE DO! Sometimes we can't even do that but rather buy secondhand parts than aftermarket ones.
So sort that statement out!
The tightest people are the ones who buy a new MK then can't afford to put petrol into it or sell it after a year!

Majority though. There are some MK3 owes
ners that don't mind spending a few quid. I'd say then it goes MK1 owners then MK5/6. But then they either have a few quid or are leasing the car anyway.

I wouldn't say people that own mk3 are tight, it's what they can afford. Most cases house and family come before the car.

Mark 3 Owners are tight.....what a load of tosh.  My Anni was a steal at £500 but I have spent close to £750 on it and have only owned it for around 2 months now.  Long may it continue

I've broken up a MK4, a MK3 and a MK2. 1.8T went from the MK4 quick but the amount of hagglers trying to knock half the price down mainly came from the MK3.

it's nice to see people going from mk4 to mk3. They are the ones that say the mk3 is the worse golf ever made. Well look at you now you peasants

The idea that you can judge how much someone is willing to spent by which mk of golf they own sounds pretty retarded to me

I've spent close to 7 grand on my mk3 so does that make up for anything?

OK let me rephrase that, not enthusiasts but the general people.

I suppose yeah, MK3's are cheap decent cars to most and only want to spend little on them.

IMO that is essential safety gear in this day and age!

I haven't done the calculations, but I would surmise that a Mk2 is quite a safe car in regard to being able to stop.  Quite a bit lighter than today's cars, and has decent brakes, even without ABS.

Plus, I Haven't got to go through some stupid menu using a wheel to navigate. I just press a large and easy to reach switch.

Bought a little MK2 1.6 runabout today for £200 but I've sold it to a mate straight away for £400.

Didn't like it.

I still think I'd prefer a MK2 over a MK3 but for what it is, a run about i.e not making any changes to it or modifying it, MK3 over the MK2 and even over the MK4 after the electrical issues I had with the laat MK4.

Might get a MK3 1.4 purely on the basis my mum uses it and prefers the MK4.

I can't keep driving fast on the roads it's just stupid.
I have to drive on the limit to get a buzz and the karting is the answer
