Title: golf gti mark 6 Daytime Running Lights

Can someone kindly tell me how I can deactivate DRL's. I live in France and can't understand the user's manual! Thanks

I searched for it on here, but you have to

ignition off
Ensure lights are in off (0) position
indicate left and hold lever back to flash
turn ignition on and wait for some confirmation tones,

im about to try this myself cant take the sh** yellow DRLs anymore, aparantly you can only do it this way on a pre 2011 car with Halogens, otherwise you need to do it on the computer.

to switch them back on is the same process but indicate right

Thanks for that but what do you mean hold lever back to flash? Do you mean push indicator lever away? Appreciate your help!

Pull the lever towards you as if you are going to flash someone, but hold it towards you until you get the confirmation tone  :smiley:

Or it's in the settings menu on the DIS on the later ones  :wink:

I just deactivated my DRL's, although it states everywhere including the manual, to indicate left to deactivate mine did not work.

I did the same process but indicated right and it worked.

You don't state the year of your GTI as with 2011 and later you can't disable the DRLs manually as shown here you need someone with VAG-COM\VCDS.

What they are saying on here is.

DRLs OFF

1) Headlight switch to OFF (0),
2) Select Left indicator while
3) Simultaneously pull the indicator stalk back towards you to flash the lights while
4) Turning ignition ON on for a couple seconds - until you hear the DING.

DRLs are now OFF.

DRLs ON

1) Headlight switch to OFF (0),
2) Select Right indicator while
3) Simultaneously pull the indicator stalk back towards you to flash the lights while
4) Turning ignition ON on for a couple seconds - until you hear the DING.

DRLs are now ON

I thought on later cars, you had a DRL on or off option in the lighting section of the DIS.

from what i can gather 2009 cars use the indicator stalk, 2010 cars use the DIS and 2011 can only be done through VCDS

Mines a Jan 2010, and that uses the indicator stalk.

What are you calling DIS the MFD?

going to have to try and deactivate mine tomorrow. the yellow light is annoying me.

I'm sure i saw an option to remove it on the MFD but will check tomorrow. my car is a late 2011 build
