Guys,
any chance you could do some sort of guide to what you need and a guesstimate to the costs of a 1.8T conversion please.
I think there are only so many times we can all say 'Do a search' and so many times you can come along and answer the question.

With respect how can you put a cost on it, so many ways to do the conversion
The guide that Mikester put together is still worth a read: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=124485.0
Lets be honest, a complete Leon Cupra or Octavia vRS donor for say £1600 gives you the chance to drive it first and make sure all is ok, then sell what is not needed means a cheapish conversion on the other some people would be happy to spend more or do things a different way.

I get that, but what i was aiming at was a list of things that are needed. If you buy a doner car, whole then you don't need to worry about the cost. Not everyone has the sort of funds to do a build like Brad has done if you pick up a doner engine and loom then it would ideal to have some info somewhere that has a little bit more detail then what is already available.

Careful Wherry! Sounding Mod like!

How much would you want to spend? Its little extras that you wouldnt even think of that adds to the costs.
How much can you do yourself? This would be the main thing that would determine costs. Because you'll be paying for someone else's services.
Eg. Brad sent his loom off to be modded and had an immo defeat. I could have saved on the loom part because I'd have made my own loom. I would have just had to pay for the immo defeat.
But you could also fit the clocks if you had a key etc.
As said there a so many ways to do it.

heres one of the threads me and kells both replied in, one of the threads I could be bothered to reply in before the question started getting asked on a daily basis and I got tired of repeating myself over and over again :P

Found it with a quick search, along with about a million other threads on the subject

Also a lot of info can be found looking in the projects section, I got a lot of the info from mine by doing this, and also the 1.8t section on clubgti is full of conversion info. The transmission section is also very helpful when deciding which box or ratios to use

Right well i have added both threads to my FAQ thread :)

I messed up that link somehow and linked to page 5 of the thread, page 1 is where you wanna be :P
