thats what i was thinking, could just be the moisture in air condensating on the exhaust.

there is a lot of water coming out at the same but i am getting a 3" straight through exhaust in a couple of weeks so should i wait and see if that cures it before doing anything else

ide agree with daz, did it used to do it in the warm weather or is it only since its became cold out that its started to do it?

when i owned a 306  :lipsrsealed: couple years back was blue smoke when valve stems were on way out so it wont be them

Stick a new air filter in it might help!
Condensation gets stuck every cold morning in the mid, center, rear box do you do short journeys every morning if you do then thats your answer mate!

was it on here there was a thread a few years ago were someone only did short journeys and so much water built up one winter there was a massive ice cube hanging out the back of his exhaust?

im only doing about two miles to work and then two miles back home so really the car is not at its warmest when i get to work. and i hope i dont get ice cubes out of my exhaust but it would be quite funny

I tink the chap lived on a slope and it had an icesical over night trust me it wasn't magic LOL!
Two miles is not enough to get it to full temps but it doesn't matter mate its condensation build up.
They used to put drain holes in the boxes for that reasons but nine out out ten they get clogged up with soot and carbon  :nerd:

would it be sensible to put a couple of holes in the boxes then it is stainless so it wont rust but will the inner start to come out of the hole if i do drill one

i wouldnt bother mate not much point imo, moisture in the air + water splashing up off the road ect your going to get a slight bit of corosion over the years on the outside ect. and tbh, the amount of water inside the exhaust in condensation is tiny its going to take years and years and years before it actualy does any damage to the exhaust imo

fair enough mate as i said im replacing the exhaust in a couple of weeks so will see how much water is in it then thanks for your help thats put my mind at ease

No if you have stainless it won't have holes because it won't rust...... well...... not the life time of the car anyways!
You will FK it up if you start drilling holes i.e it will rust then  :lipsrsealed:
Its normal mate you can warm up your car before you drive it to get temps up the natural force of the fumes will eventually push the water out or do what I do and go home enroute to a hill   Okay I live on a hill

oh yeah forgot stainless hardly rusts :D but yeah anyway no point in putting any holes in, its not going to do any damage just letting the heat of the exhaust and the fumes push the water out

thanks mate the only downside to that is i live in lincolnshire and that has to be the flatest place known to man lol

 :grin:think the biggest hill i go up/down is the curb getting onto my drive so im in a simelar boat :D exept do 30 miles a day so the heat of the exhaust gets rid of any moisture.

could always use it as an excuse to go for a drive around the country roads at the weekend

No probs lads!
I live on a hill 850 feet above sea level with three exits both 45%, 65% one is 75% gradient that one is shut at winter!
I don't drive if it snows FK the water  :lipsrsealed:
