Title: Where's good for batteries?
Post by: Mk1Macca on 28 November 2011, 10:47
The cold has finally killed off the battery in Mrs Macca's 1.6 Mk4. Despite providing a hilarious and somewhat noisy scene for the neighbours this morning as I had to jump start it from my Scoob, I need to get a new one sorted at lunch.

My options are pretty much Halfrauds, stealer or GSF. Don't really have time go round all three, so I ask you, the good people of the forum: Where should I go? What should I buy? Who will be cheapest?

Don't halfrauds do free replacements if they die? Will they be more expensive than GSF? Whose will last longer?

Thanks!

Halfrauds are expensive, but the prices can half if you (or someone you know) has a trade card.
They come with either a 2 or 3 year guarantee, depending which one you buy, so if you get one keep the receipt and if it dies they'll swap it over for free!

Brilliant!

Thanks all, have clicked to reserve at the local ECP (which happens to be next to GSF). Forum discount FTW :)

I got a bosch one from GSF for £37 + VAT. Exactly the same battery in Halfrauds was £95! The only difference was you got a 5 year guarantee in Halfords, compared to 4 years from GSF. So you could just but 2 in GSF and have an additional 3 years if you really want that extra!
