Title: 1.8 8v brakes
Post by: Povey on 27 November 2011, 19:31
I have a 1.8 8v not the most exciting of engines to be fair, but Its time to replace the discs and pads, my question is this,

The discs on it are solid, iv just brought vented discs, will they fit the calipers no problem? They are the same diameter as the solid discs maybe bit wider?

256mm? My old 1.8 had mk2 vented discs and used the slimmer mk2 pads on the o.e caliper

That's the size iv got, they are mk2 gti discs, so you think I should get mk2 gti pads?

same hubs on the mk 2 and 3,  I believe you need the mk2 carrier but it's all bolt on

Check the build thread in my sig,i think it is on page 2 or 3(same car as yours)The 1.8 had 3 different brake setups. If it is the same type as mine was then the hub and caliper carrier are one. There are pics and stuff so you should be able to see what i have done but if you want any info feel free to pm me.
