I have finished td coverstion on golf driver. I have plugged alll wires on engine primed the diestel fuel. when I try start it wount crank and I look glowplug amber light go off very quickly, normally light on for 5 sec then go. When I take key off dash light still on!? What I have missed?
Engine and looms is from 1986 and fitted in 1991 golf driver. Engine code is JR
can anyone come with answers?

Jeez man it could be anything not much to go on TBH I say ECU, fuel, electrics take your pick
I think more infomation is need mate
What TD engine was fitted?
What conversion method did you use?
What YOU actually did?
What is working for sure etc....
I'm lost on this completely if you are expecting an answer from me!
But hey cool you have done this where is the project page?
-
an 1986 loom dosent plug into a 1991 car without adjustments as the later car is ce2 not ce1 like the loom

It dones't have ecu as it td not tdi.
I will put on project page when my golf is 100%

You understand its hard to see what is wrong without more information mate?
So TD is from a Jetta? GTD?

yes I use ce1 loom and fusebox and rear light wire is the same as ce2 so I plug togher, everything is working i.e wiper, lights. Only need to fire up engine. It is turbo diestel not petrol engine.
Glow plug and all red light dial disappear very quickly when I turn on key.

oh sorry, td engine from 1986 golf cl td and i put it in 1991 golf driver but i took off ce2 loom and fit ce1 loom for engine.

Engine worked fine before transplant?
What about fuel lines and fuel filter all swapped over correctly?
-
Yes before i start engine before I took off. I put a td fuel tank on golf driver all pipe connected and diestel fuel go in fuel filer and go in pump.
-
So it doesn't turn over now at all?
I would start by checking voltages to the starter first then take out the plugs to check if they are defo working!
Its sounding more electrical issues to me if everything primes.
I know it takes a long time to get fuel in chamber if its lost vacumn in the lines!
But if ignition does nothing you will have to trace the battery to starter to ignition.
In theory diesels should be easier to start than petrol!
Have you tried Bum starting it i.e roll down hill then crank it?
-
All it needs is 12V to the stop solenoid and the starter circuits to be wired up correctly and it should start and run fine.
This really is vehicle electrics at its most basic.
You have used a diesel starter, haven't you? Petrol unit won't be man enough to battle diesel levels of compression.

I will test starter motor see if work proply, deffo electrics gitch, The clocks all red dial light and glow plug light flashed and disppar very quickly when i turn key I knew that isn't normal. I have other jetta td glowplug light come on for 5 sec then off to start engine. As fitted td on golf should do the same job. My area dont have a hill for me to roll down! And how can I able push up hill again? lol

Still has original td starter motor
Is stop soleniod on diestel pump? If it is and I'll check it.

Dh has good point the voltages to start a diesel is very high so using the original starter and bigger battery would be needed!
Get another car to tow you up hill LOL

thanks, i'll kept trying mate

Yes.
Drag the f*cker down the road on a rope, if it's got 12V to the stop solenoid and it's turning over when it's dragged (and do make sure it IS) then it'll start after being dragged about a bit.
Might take a fair bit of being dragged, if there's air in the fuel system, mind.
-
easy start  that'll get the fecker running
if it stops running when you stop spraying it's not getting any fuel
-
It fire! I dint push the car to fire up! I turn crank and check flywheel marker to align and clean starter motor plug due corrosion. Start fire and sputter then stall, there was air in fuel pipe but try again with clutch down and turn and fire well. Happy day!
Thanks everybody!

Good news Mann another happy ending!
Beer!
