Hi , my tidy mk2 valver has a mis-matched set of seats/doorcards, see pics below of what's currently in there (not ideal!!) , all seats/cards are in very good condition, but I'd like to get the correct matching set - anyone know what should be fitted?
It's a very late 91 on a J reg (30/12/91) , not sure if its supposed to be rainbow , crissy crossy, stripey or any other interesting pattern/colour combination!
Boot sticker indicates type 49 – whatever that is ? or am I reading it wrong…
Thanks for your help!

Yea, I know what rainbow interior looks like :) , i meant i'm not sure what is supposed to be in there, (very nice set you have there by the way - is it for sale!)
My door cards have blue and yellow stripe - which is different to rear seat, and the front seats are completely different as in pics - clash with everything else!? that cant be right!!

Haaa that seat set has never been used it was taken out 1K swapped for leather and kept in garage for all time, the colour is actually true colour of what rainbow used to be before UV hits it and its very much darker when new!
The seat and door cards seem to be missed matched and not right at all the scheme I think would have been what the rear seats are or it could have been a Rainbow, but yours is red. We need somemore pictures from other RED 16Vers on here to confirm those back seats are actually what should be in there!
-
Those front seats are corrado seats.
Ihad an 8v on a H plate that had the yellow striped interior and used to see plenty up the scrapyard with it, all 8v s though.
My H reg valver had rainbow but then again it was oak green so dont know if they all had it.
-
Run out models on 8V's used up all the rainbow and late interiors Common on J & H plates on 8Vers
-
Ok thanks, least I know where the front seats came from .... Any one want some corrado seats with no wear ?
So when did the ultraviolet and same but red seats come in? Would mine have had those being almost a 92 ?
I'll be on the lookout for a decent set of matching seat and cards , as my cards with yellow nd blue stripes dont go with the red paint !

So are they for sale?

No mate sorry (NOT FOR SALE) already replied to Jon over PM There is a set in the classified section a bit dirty, but its gonna be cheaper than my set!

By the look of it, you rears seats are from a 88-89 GTI or possible an early 90 spec 8V
These are my 89 G reg 8V rear seats (with non original headrests)

Your door cards are neither rainbow, or ultraviolet, so maybe they are from a Driver or Ryder? Who knows. It all looks a bit mix and match to me.
-
i have the matching door card front and rear to match the rear bench ,did have the seats but sold the passenger 1 as the drivers was worn as they normal do .
if you want the matching door-cards drop me a pm mate.
-
ps your car must look odd with different door card and rear bench and carrodo front seats . :undecided:

Those are Driver door cards (yellow with blue). Used to have identical ones in mine before I re trimmed them.
Beat me to it with the Corrado seats. TBH corrado seats are arguably more comfortable than golf ones as the bases are longer. Also they sit lower as they are for the low roof coupe. Could always avoid the pain of tracking down a replacement golf interior and get them trimmed up to match?

Those door cards also come out of Early GTI's they did do a checked patterned the same as the one pictured with the blue & yellow stripping...
I broke a car with them in ages ago...

So if it is a very late 16V, should it have Rainbow, or Ultra Violet?

I think UV's were only fitted to BBM & White cars AFAIK..
I thought all other coloured Late 16V had Rainbows, but I guess it depended on what the buyer or dealership ordered...

Thanks for the replies and good info! I definitely need to loose the yellow/blue stripe cards , nasty against the red paint.
Re-trimming the fronts could be a viable option , the Corrado seats do the job well - any ideas on cost?
cheers

Too many factors, like who you use to the type of material. 350- to 3500, sure someone local to recommend. Although if you fancy a bash yourself you can achieve good results with a bit of patience and decent glue

These are not Driver door cards (yellow with blue). they are out of a gti same as mine they are early gti from 'e'1988 on ward then they made the red/black and white trim up to 89/90 then the rainbow trim was used. :smug:
-
Sounds like vw were a bit random with it all!! Either that or people have been messing + swapping them around since day 1

Mine is the yellow blue trim too (16v 88 'F')

What about this type, similar to UV , you would think it would have been used where UV didn't go with the paint colour .... like red!
must be on some run out models?
