As mentioned before, it would seem GTD suspension is different to GTI (more soggy) so hoping won't be too bumpy with 18" alloys. Like sunroof. Last one wasn't noisy so hoping this one isn't, I like the light it brings into the car - makes it less claustrophobic. I find that the completely black interior, leather, roof lining, dash etc needs a bit of light. Will be keeping it shut in winter months when I am going to miss the winter pack I had on last car.
(I do like a car fully spec'd) Wish it had Bi-Xenon's too - sigh.
Went to dealer today - 127 miles away from me. He wants money by BACS before he will register the car  Not heard of that one before. Hasn't even been delivered yet!
Popcorn - now there's a thought (reaching for shopping list)

I wouldn't fight with Will he's just so..... Well..... Erm..... manly plus if I fought him he may not be my first borns godfather
ANN, sounds unusual to me, a small deposit is the norm?
What dealership is it?
Have to talked to Lee our official VW trader (Inscape group) as he's just done Will @ Carbon a mega deal on a new GIT?
Peace

   Asker starts one of his usual "let's get everyone wound up" threads, but it just turns into Doc and Will having a tiff across the workshop.

Now I like popcorn.................... But I also like revels, but which one is best??
..........
-
I'd say that was very mood and time of day dependant - revels can f11ck you up with that coffee one too
Certainly food for thought
Nice change of topic Willy boy

Hi Doc
Paid 1K deposit to hold the car, but they want full payment before they register it. I know when I bought last car from another dealer I paid when I went to pick it up so thought this was unusual. It is a VW main dealership in Buckinghamshire and they say it is what they always do :S
-
I've never paid for a car in full untill I've given it a good looking over. If you are paying with a direct transfer, or debit card, that's as good as cash in the bank for them, so should not be handed over until you take delivery. (IMHO)
-
That is just plain wrong, car will need a proper going over by yourself before you part with any of your hard earned readies!!
If I were you I'd tell them to go whistle. A deposit up front of £1000 is fine to secure the car but anything else prior to receipt is taking the proverbial.
-
Money all up front....maybe the dealership is not telling you everything....like they are about to do into receivership  sounds like they may have cash flow problems.
Most I've ever paid is the standard £500 deposit, then balance on collection. Done this a couple of months ago with the wifes new car....£500 paid to main VW dealer, with balance to be paid on delivery (9th dec)

Just been on the phone to them and told them I wasn't happy - (I can really do stroppy). Their excuse was they didn't want to keep me waiting while they did the tax on-line. I said I was quite happy to wait and that I would pay them on the day. They have backed down. Why is everything such a battle!

Hay Ann Stop talking about cars and changing the topic let's get back to the bottom of the revels/ popcorn thing... Like, God!!!!
The more money you spend the harder it all gets, did you not know this. You didn't think it would be easy. Storm in a tee cup, get excited again and get your money's worth out of it.

Andy, simple - both and let's make it a feast!!

Ann
I think they were wanting the one in their account before the month end for bonus reasons?! Sly bu99ers aren't they?!
-
Different companies I guess have different rules. We usually take £500 deposit and then most inchcape dealers will take payment on the day of collection even though their official rule is full payment 3 days prior to handover. It could be the old trick of trying desperately to get it paid for and invoiced in to this months figures. At then end of the day its all about trust. I am sure if the dealer had not just sprung this on you now you would not be so worried. Personally I wouldn't want a customer to pay for it till I knew it was here safe and sound.
-
Why would anyone pay for anything in full before actually having it in front of them? A deposit is fair enough but any more than that they're having a laugh!!!
-
Oh well - all sorted now. Think they realised they were pushing it a bit.
On a different topic - For me it's salted popcorn - more nutritious and better for the figure
-
This is what I have neither salty nor toffee just sweet like Mrs Doc

Yes those 5 minutes while someone in admin taxes the car are the worst. What they have probably done recently is taxes and registered a car before full payment and customers situation has changed and they are then left with a registered car they can't sell as new to qualify for the current campaigns as the dvla will very rarely unregister a car for you.

Mmm my favourite too.
-
Can you get packets of revels to share with holes in the bottom?
That might tip the scales and improve your love life.
-
It has to be Butterkist Toffee popcorn or go home, Revels are for the indecisive!
Oh, and I always prefer a small deposit and COD.
-
Have none of you tried chocolate covered popcorn???
I dont really like pop corn or chocolate... but put the two together and we have a win
-
Just to refer back to Naa's situation,
Recently when I ordered another car I secured discount by agreeing to get the car registered in a specific month. The flip side was that the dealer needed to process the payments before the last day of the month. That left me with little over a week to get the payments and insurance sorted on a car that wasn't due to arrive for at least 3-4 weeks.
I agree it's a bit odd the dealer wanting the money now but it may be a similar situation. Although to be fair I'd expect them to explain the reason for needing the payment so soon rather than just holding out their hands for the cash. :undecided:
As for the more important issues... Doritos FTW (or Butterkist Sweet) None of this Revel's or Chocolate Popcorn nonsense.
