Other than the obvious, what's the differants between a a non supercharged vr6 and the supercharged version? Any difference in c/r? Manifolds? Anything else big?
-
Well you need to drop the c/r plus run standalone mangement
-
Hmmm... Supercharged vr6? Ooft yes please

Not on Stage 1 you don't...you don't even need an IC.
Just bolt it on, and go...oodles of torque.
Stage 2 is + IC.
Stage 3 is lower compression, IC., fuelling changes etc IIRC...amd all supplied with an EPROM to fit in the standard ECU.
-
Exactly, people have been building these for years! Nik Saran / VF Engineering / Stealth :)

How much boost can you run on the standard c/r then :undecided:

Not much...4-5 psi maybe?
Then if you go to a smaller pully and more boost, you need (or at least should consider) an IC, bigger injectors and the kit gives a bypass valve too - 7-8 psi I think.
After that, it's low CR time.
I have a couple of mates who bolted a VF Engineering kit on anf had no issues, on standard CR VR6s.

I read that the standard vr engine is good for 300bhp, any truth in this?

Well it is a strong engine, it has been suggested that it was designed as a diesel. :undecided:
-
I heard that they were going to be designed as a turbo diesel so all the internals are strethened ready for the turbo. Don't know how much truth there is in this.
-
I also heard that a lot of VR6 owners are just awesome!

I heard they were all gay and don't update their rides threads properly.

What's more annoying then anything is i can't comment back!
I was looking through the thread and there is far too much man love going on! and i don't update very well either!

OMGZ JV, what are you doing in the MK3 section.

Also Storm, but dont believe their RR figures!
-
And yes Wherry your thread is very gay!
-
theirs a video of the acceleration of that Ian guys set up, in the for sale section
does not look very fast at all... Turbo ftw
-
also the obd1 bottom end is stronger than the obd2
-
A mate has a MK3 VR6 Supercharged, just bolted on by storm. No other mods other than a BMC air filter and it flys.
Potential for 270BHP+ with a few more mods.
-
also the obd1 bottom end is stronger than the obd2
Why?

Yes, yes there is, and no, no you don't. :lipsrsealed:

Good for 300 BHP how?
N/A you'd be very lucky to get 300 BHP - even with wild cams, big valves and seriuous headwork, I think 300 BHP is out of reach...and if you could, it would be so non-standard that you could hardly call it 'standard.
Forced induction?
I guess so...with a decent IC, bigger injectors, a small pully on a VF S/charger...then I suppose 300 BHP is achievable on standard internals.

I think he was joking...
The engine is the same. OBD doesn't even exist in the UK - it's an American thing...the stepper motor TB of the later cars and switch from coil pack to dizzy was about the only change...the hardware of the engines are the same.

yep It's only because I have one.
but the aba obd1 is ment to be better than the aba obd2. I read this on vwvortex http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4966752-TECH-Differences-between-OBDI-amp-OBDII-heads-and-blocks (http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4966752-TECH-Differences-between-OBDI-amp-OBDII-heads-and-blocks)

imo, this does not look fast ?
-
My mates old VrT was running 412bhp on full boost and around 330 turned down (figures not accuate)... for around 5 years without fault. Eventually the engine went because he ignored a faulty waterpump and a piston let go. Dropped a sharan vr6 in there and ran about 380 for a good while until sold
Many insane and loads of unusable and wasted power

US engines are different...their gearboxes too.
Aren't UK 2.8 VR6s AAA engine codes?
And 2.9s ABV?
That article is referring ro the ABA - that's a 4 cylinder!
