Title: changing gearknob on mk3 gti

just brought a new gearknob for the golf but it seems the geargaiter is joined to the gearknob on the orginal one. does this mean i need buy a new gaiter before i fit the new gearknob or can i modify the old one????

No they do come apart. Just give it a good tug! (no pun intended!)

He mean after he has unscrewed the knob the gaiter is still attached to the knob I think.

Don't break it. It's actually a rare optional extra you get with a full heated leather seats.. well that's at least what I had.

Get a new one and sell it.

i dont have leather in my 8v i took knob of and gaiter seems to be a leather 1 all in joined with the gearknob does it mean i either cut the gaiter or have get a new 1
