Title: What is nominal oil pressure?
Post by: Yohan on 24 November 2011, 14:34
Afternoon,

Will be fitting an Oil Pressure gauge to my 1.8T AMK shortly.

What figures should I expect to see i.e. from cold start and then once the car is warm?

Thanks

Hey all,

Recently been noticing my oil pressure gauge on the panel is through the roof. Doesn't move at all - just sits well past the 80 on the dial by a full inch, hitting the DMC logo around the middle of the C.

However, the engine temp seems to stay normal and the vehicle does not exhibit any other symptoms.

Help?

Thanks,

you ether have a broken gauge or the oil pressure relife valve is stuck shut / malfuntioning    worth investigateing as a stuck relife valve can explode oil filters and damage / blow out  gaskets , seals , core plugs
