Title: Defog / Demist windscreen
Post by: centurian on 23 November 2011, 18:55
From reading my handbook my Mk 6 does not appear to have Climatronic so by default I guess it has Climatic heating & ventilation controls.

What's my best configuration for demisting/defogging the windscreen etc please?

(Nb, my last vehicle has Climatronic and I really miss it)

Thanks

Not sure what Climatronic is but I have a button that says Max for the windscreen.  That's what I use to de-mist.

If you have a GTI/D you will have dual zone climate. In that case just press the demist button.

Lesser models like my GT have climatronic (3 rotary dials) Turn the dial to demist (air con turns on automatically) set the temperature and turn the fan up. Same as any other car really.

When you switch h it back to normal the ac goes off and it will must up again faster than before. So after its demisted I like to open the windows slightly for a short amount of time and turn the heat up a little to dry the air a little before closing the windows. Try that!

Or leave the ac on until a slightly nicer day when you can have your windows open for a while to get rid of the misty after ac air.

Yeah I can't stand that about the AC, as soon as you switch it off it mists back up just as quick. I'd rather it takes its time with the demisting and then stays that way.

And don't forget to remove headrests, lower the back seats and remove the rear tray so's the center of gravity is lowered and then you'll be able to corner better......

If it went around corners AshWell as it handles road noise those things would be happening.
