Can anyone tell me where i would find the immobiliser?
-
The ECU is the imobilizer........
-
Ah. I was hoping it wasnt. Thanks pal

Immobiliser box is located either behind passenger glovebox or airbag or can be found behind the clocks. Is this related to your non starting fault as the immobiliser would allow te car ti start and cut out straight away.

I found this when the chip fell out of my flip key.

Surely if it faulty it could cause all sorts of problems
-
If it was faulty the car would start and then cut out straight away. The immobiliser does not stop the car starting but cuts out the fuel pump which is why the car won't run. To check out or remove the immobiliser you would need the car started anyway. Your fault is not immobiliser related IMO. A fellow member on here had a similar problem a while back where he sent weeks looking for the reason his car would not start. In the end he found out the ECU earth was faulty....changed this and away it went.

Unless it is an early one in which case they did not have factory fitted units.

Mine is a 95 model not sure if its too old. Where is the ecu earth? Ive got the ecu off now and i havent come across an earth yet
-
Not sure Bud....PM a member on here called VDubNinja. He had the problem and can tell you exactly what he did. Hope this helps Cheers

Your earth will be in the loom that plugs into ecu.
-
I believe it finishes somewhere near the under side of the battery tray but could not be totally sure on this.
-
So, the ECU earth runs from the loom near the engine block, under the battery tray and to the ECU near the passenger side dash.
A quick easy fix would be to simply re-wire the earth to a good earth point.

Yes your 1995 car will have an immobiliser.
The box mounted near the clocks is the transponder box that picks up the chip in the key.
