Odd question... What should the top of the spark plugs look like on a 2.0 8v (AGG)? I've ordered some and they have an end like this:

But my existing ones have an end like this:

A quick browse online shows everyone seems to have the wider type (which means I was probably shipped the right stuff). So do I have some unusual after market ones? The HT leads *look* like the standard ones (i.e. long metal shroud etc)..
Any insight would be welcome, apologies if it's obvious and I'm being a 'tard ;)

Screw on /screw off!
I actually suspect your existing ones are faulty but if not then you just unscrew the top cap of the plug.

Yeah top ones look right. NGK BUR6ET iirc.

as above unscrew

You can unscrew the top? Bugger me, never knew that. I'll have a look this evening, but I suspect it confirms my initial suspicion that I was just being a 'tard :P
Cheers..

You can unscrew the top off /on , btw the correct plugs are the 3 core or prongs one not single core. :smug:

the quad prong bosch super plus work well too :-)
something similar to : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-PERORMANCE-UPGRADE-SPARK-PLUG-BOSCH-SUPER-4-VW-Golf-mk3-2-0-Cabriolet-97-/300606923588?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45fd91a344 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-PERORMANCE-UPGRADE-SPARK-PLUG-BOSCH-SUPER-4-VW-Golf-mk3-2-0-Cabriolet-97-/300606923588?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45fd91a344)

lol I had this exact issue the other day when I changed my HT leads. Had Beru plugs and Beru leads and couldn't work out why the fit was so bad. 10 mins later I remembered the top bit unscrews off the plugs.... like a glove
