Title: tyre choice doing my head in!!!
Post by: negawsklov on 23 November 2011, 13:00
My wifes new wheels arrived yesterday and I've been out to sort tyres and am now back home (well pub) having purchased nothing!!

The wheels are 8x16 front and 9x16 rears with the car running about 60/70mm drop.  Rear arches are being pulled on friday but what tyre size do I fit, I asked in one place for a price for 195/205 40 16's and he laughed saying good luck!

Any ideas please but no 225's etc ha ha

195/45 or 205/45/16's are what you need.

225's dont fit! Will rub against struts!

With 16's you should have 45 profile tyres.
Have you tried internet? etyres or mytyres

I got 8" front 9" rear and fitted 195/45/16's £260 for budgets.
Pretty sure you can get Toyo t1r's for £300 from eBay and then pay to get them put on, about £10 a wheel.
When fitting the rears I put a inner tube in the tyre to stretch the wall out for 20 mins. then quickly take it out, put tyre on wheel and use a cheater as well as pump

The Phirm just pointed me in the direction of www.tyrestretch.com. I might have made my mind up

I can have 195&205 45 16's fitted for £240 all in and they are falkens. Any good or should I do 195's all round for the hell of it?

195's all round would be ore practical and give a better stretch on the wider wheels.

I used Blackcircle.com. You just put in the tyre size you want, and it will come up with all brands available. You can then order from them, and they will give you a choice of a load of local fitters to you. Worked out over £40 cheaper for 2 fronts for mine last month than going direct to the fitters.
