Title: Buying my first MK5 GTI,,, any advice welcome

Hello, I'm a new member ,looking to replace the wife's corsa (HATE THAT CAR !) with a MK5 GTI,,,  looking for any advice as to what to look for apart from the obvious HPI ,mileage and history check, more a case of any weakness points,,, I drive a Audi A4 B6 2.0 FSI with S-Line kit and really love the build quality and thats what I'm looking for in a second car my budget is around £6500 , any advice welcome,,, thanks

make sure you check the front wheel arches and the door sills for rust. the mk has a problem with rust in these areas due to the wheel arch lining rubbing on the wing and causing rust.

you could also check to see if the coilpacks have been replaced, not all GTI's required it, but some did. i got all 4 changed by VW FOC after i bought the car.

Would Suggest a GT Sport, but a quick look around on pistonheads/ebay ect, would tell you that you may need to increase your budget.
