Title: Result from white worm
Post by: VWKev on 22 November 2011, 00:39
A while back I left a post stating my alloys were suffering slight effects of the whiteworm. After being for a service, all 4 alloys are being replaced under warranty.

Result.

Whiteworm?

In other words filiform corrosion.

Kev were they bad when you complained about them?

My Vancouver had 2 tiny wee white marks and I thought there was no way they would replace it. They said they would have to take pictures etc and send to VW but when I went to collect the car after its service they said a wheel had been ordered!!

Was it a local garage?

No not particularly bad, but you could see it. As you know, once it starts you really cant get rid of it easily, and it never fully goes away (I dont think) - yep local garage I bought the car from. Really really good bunch of guys there and no hassle at all.

My [now] local dealer [Snoopy's favourite place to buy a car] failed to notice the very slight corrosion on one of my wheels when I booked it in for a service - even though I pointed it out to the booking-in girly.

It hasn't got any worse since the summer so I'll monitor and sort accordingly.

a result though Kev, getting all wheels replaced.
