Title: Selling up.
Post by: mongchops on 21 November 2011, 20:31
Time has come to part with my Mk2. Not that I want to but due to an achilles rupture that will take another three months to heal properly, it's the best thing to do. Thing is, I've never sold a car before privately. All my previous motors have been px'ed as they have been modern boxes on wheels. This is where, hopefully, you guys come in.

What are the pitfalls that I must look for?
How do I get maximum pennies for the Golf?
Do I advertise in specialist/local/national mags or just plop it on Fleabay and hope?

Your thoughts, suggestions and advice will be most welcome.

Thanks.

Sorn it and put it to bed some where dry if you can for 3 months

If I had somewhere dry then I'd be tempted but, as it will have to sit on the drive, methinks selling is the best option.

3 months will fly by....  mines been off the road for that long under a breathable cover and its fine.  Are you certain in 3 months time you won't regret it?...  To be honest you may even struggle to sell it for a good price if at all this time of year...

Putting the above aside, try your luck in the classifieds on this site with a well written description.. If after a while you have no joy you can copy the ad from here on to fleabay with a fair reserve on it.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck and I hope you heal up soon.
