at presant my golf has a 2.0 bottom end from a mk3 with a mk2 8 valve head that has high lift cam and ported head running a 4 branch and scorpion exhaust i have the chance of getting hold of another mk2 that has been fitted with a 2.0 16v head and bottom end from a mk3 ABF but using the mk2 kjet injection my question is will it be worth changing the engine from the new mk2 into my present mk2 will i feel any difference and are there any advantages to this cheers

Yes yes and yes. I have a kjetted abf and as its set up spot on (160 bhp), its well alright. I never struggle with 8vs either - 30mph upwards that is. Always easily adaptable to digi as well, should you wish to go that way one day (9a etc isn't)
-
You have an extra 8 valves simples
-
ABF hands down, not sure about running it on Kjet though as you will most likely be rich or lean depending on either how its set up or how broken it is.
I am sure you can run it on Digi, someone will be along soon to say how easy/hard this conversion is but you you will stand a better chance of getting the 150bhp and decent mpg out of the engine with it over Kjet

well my 8valve has digi so would i be able to just swap that onto the 16 valve or is it different digi on the 16v
-
If all the kjet equipment works, then its just as tuneable as digi for peak power, if not more. As said, mine makes 159.5, higher than the quoted 150 from the mk3. If the kjet works fine and is set up spot on, its hardly worth buying the digi loom + parts, then swapping it all in, for a 'tamer' engine. Digis can be a nightmare for faults/ fault finding also

Different, 16v is higher pressure, different pump etc, better to run an ABF on factory management if you can.

Buy my ms ecu :) 170+bhp

mk2 digifant 2 can be wired up to an ABF but it really dosent like it up it, drives utter crap. digifant 3.X that was fitted to the ABF runs it pritty damb well TBH& its as close to plug and play as your ever going to get

Wouldn't bother pulling a k-jetted abf out of another mk2, just pick up a complete abf with proper digi management and put it in yours. They can be had complete for 200-400 quid. Decatted with decent exhaust and a healthy serviced engine should easily see you at 160bhp and 40+ mpg on motorway runs. You can run an abf on digi off a mk2 8v fuel pump, but much better to swap in a mk3 16v/vr6 fuel tank with the built in fuel pump :)

thanks for all the info been on a swap sight as after swapping another car i have and just saw the mk2 on there
so i would be better just getting a mk3 and using the engine gearbox ect out of that then?

Yes a donnor car would be far cheaper option, as you have everything instead of trying to miss matching a Frankinstein monster
