got in the car this evening to come home from me mothers started up no problem as usual, went to put into first gear, put presure on clutch and there was an almighty snap, knew exactly what happened so shut engine off and had a little temper tantrum
now what im thinking is cable snapped but theres still bit of pressure on the pedal?
is it what i think it is? how hard to swap? its a GL not a GTI

my clutch went the other day, if you look box end, see if it's come out of the little rubber bung. if it has, theres a little clip under that, on mine that clip had rusted and snapped clean, so whenever you press the clutch the pedal just stays to the floor, but you can still pull it out, and press it.
does that make any sense?
always worth a shout at least, got one from a scrapper for 2 quid. otherwise i think the other common fault is the clutch release arm breaking

Mine went a little while ago. They do go with a bang!
I bodged mine while VW got hold of the clip and bung for me. Was only a couple of quid. Do the clutch cable while you're at it, worth it in the long run.
Here's my bodge. Hammered the clip flat, then modded a washer to fit.
