Has anyone tried this:
http://www.netdata.be/iso/?
You simply take an image you want to appear on the screen (instead of the 'Welcome to VW' logo), load it onto this site, download the file, burn to a disk, and stick it in your RNS! When you boot, you should see your own logo.
I've read about some folk who've tried it on vwnavi and it apparently works great. I'm now sitting thinking what I'd set my custom boot logo as?!
You can look through all the ones previous people have used too.

On another note... I thought I'd search for some pics to try playing with - so I typed golf R silver into Google images.
My car is the first result!!

You must be a popular bloke mate
Regards the boot logo yes I have the nice frontal of a camper van

Does it just do it automatically when you stick the disk in?
It doesn't wipe out the software VIM does it?!
I'm not sure what to make mine. I guess I can always burn off another disk with the original logo if I don't like what I make!

It actually works like the FW discs, stick it in the CD slot, it asks if you want to continue then it goes through the update process but like 10 times faster then it say update success and restarts itself.
You then have the logo when it starts up.

Nice find - good idea to put your cars reg on somewhere incase it's stolen?
-
Good find - wasn't aware o this but fancy changing mine.
Does anybody have the original splash screen to change back if needed/selling etc.??
-
Gave it a go there but just get a SWL Error when it tries the update
-
Great find. I'll try this in the morning. Cheers.

Press setup eject and the star button altogether then put your disc in once you've pressed the 3 buttons

Thanks Darren but I am still getting Software loading error (010306)
I will try another type of disk.

Never worked for me.
Then when I tried it again, the unit was already warmed up so didn't display the splash screen
Anyone know how long it takes for the unit to power down and reshow the splash screen when it boots?
-
Burnt it to CD instead of DVD and it worked

If you click on Golf at the top of the site you can see all the other peoples logos they've installed. The original one is in there loads of times.

Mike, that looks the nuts.
I now have to figure out how to do it without killing off my RNS.

Works like a charm...been using it a couple of weeks.... only incomprehensible thing to me is when the logo comes up...most of the time the booting has a life of its own...
