Title: MK2 gti spluttering??
Post by: AK47 on 21 September 2003, 15:42
I've recently bought a mk2 gti and it's in perfect condition.I'm really happy with the car but when you've been driving it for about 10-15 mins it starts to splutter when you put your foot down.It splutters so bad that theres hardly any power, but like i said when you first get in it it's fine. Can anyone shed some light on this problem.

How does it idle? Is it steady? What year is it? Etc.

I had a similar problem, although if I accelerated hard it was ok, it was more mid range that it spluttered.

I did all the usual things, cleaning the ISV etc. but it still caused me loads of grief, so I unplugged the second temp sender near the block and it solved the problem. I'm sure it's not an ideal solution, but it worked for me.
