I have been hunting around for a new GTD to replace my poor little dead car. Need to buy 'off the peg' - don't have time to wait for one to be ordered. I have found what I am looking for - almost - but it has the 18" wheels with no ACC. Previous car had 17" so wondered if the ride would be a little hard with the larger Charleston alloys. Does anyone have experience of what the ride is like.
Thanks
Ann

I thought it would be hard but its fine and not uncomfortable at all. It wool corner better mind.

My GT has 18" Vancouvers and no ACC and is perfectly acceptable.
The 18" tyres will be a tiny bit more expensive when you come to buy new ones, but I think that's a price worth paying to have the far better looking wheels.

They do look well

Hi Ann sorry to hear about your old car.
I have a gti on 18's and acc and have it set to comfort all the time. If your used to 17's I think you really really need to go on a long drive in one with 18's before you buy the new one.
We are also trying to get to the bottom of wether or not they make more road noise.
It will look nice though.

Thanks everyone! Just read thread about road noise. Even on 17" I used to find the noise could become a bit intrusive and annoying on long journeys. Hm - food for thought.

Interesting!
Ann was your old car 3 door or 5 door gtd please?
Also any ideas what make of tyres you had?
-
My 2p is on a 3 door - popcorn out
-
I'll see your 2p it's a five door and raise you 2p it had bridgestones!!!
-
Previous car was 5 door - initially with Bridgestones then changed for Goodyear Eagle F1 which were slightly quieter.
-
Oh that's not what we wanted to hear, hoping it was the 3door ting. nice one though thanks.
