The German version of Auto Express (Auto Bild) has this currently showing. Proper "pictures" of the Golf 7. Click on "nächstes Bild" to scroll through the pictures and you get to see the Estate (the Variant as ze Germans call it) the coupe, the cab etc.
Looks like a Golf.......

Not sure about the front yet... it'll need to grow on me but looks good from the back
Those German pop-ups aren't half annoying!
-
Not sure of the Passat-like front either. The overall look is ok and does not set the pulse racing. Not sure of the over-zealous crease along the lower flank. Hope the real thing will be an improvement. At least it looks better than a Focus, BMW 1 series and the bland Astra 5 door hatch. Not as nice as a Mk6 or the new Audi A3 which has much better crisp detailing along the flanks. The only car left to see is the new A Class which might most probably look like a shrunken new B Class which is also a disappointment.
-
It looks like a box with a crease on the side to me. Really quite bland.
-
If that really is what the GTI will look like there is no chance that I will be getting on.

I like the wheels....

It's like a Passat hatchback.

i think thats the base spec... they usually release pictures of that first. Expect the GTI to have lots more stick on bits
-
I really like although it's quite grown up looking.

It looks like a car owned by someone who has lost their sex drive.
Basically it's a photoshop of about half a dozen VW group cars (quite a good effort too) and typical Autoexpress.
-
it's ok for a basic car \ entry version etc. but will have to see what the GTI looks like in the flesh inside and out.
Seeing a blank mk6 with the shaddow monzas and the new interior is what got me to sign the order right hafter the test drive.
I'd be very interested to see what the new shape S3 looks like (didn't like the current S3 especially the interior - Mk6 golf much better place to be) as I suspect it would be between S3 and GTi in the end (wasn't fussed on the Golf R or RS3 looks vs the GTI).
However no way I'm going to listen to local dealer next time around regarding 7 weeks delivery 100% sure - will simply go with the lowst price via brokers etc (almost had same issue with the tiguan! - 9 weeks quoted but was in reality it was an average of 6 months according to the tiguan forum).
These forums are a brilliant sources of info!!!

I hope the GTI version looks better. I like the rear but not sure about the front. I also do not like the line on the side. It seems out of place.
I wonder how many hp the new GTI will have. The current GTI is expensive enough over here. I'll have to pay 220 gbp for every horsepower on the car in addition to all the other taxes.

Bearing in mind the new Astra VXR is nigh on 280 hp you can bet your bottom dollar the Mk7 GTi will be nowhere near that - maybe no more than 230 and it'll be thousands more expensive too.
And even then, many of us will go out and buy one and then moan on the Mk7 forum about rattles, crap dealers etc. etc. ......

Regarding the power, I've heard 2 outputs, both of which have a sound reasoning behind them.
The first is 220hp. The reasoning behind this is that the engine is just a slight variation of the Mk6 GTI lump and the Mk7 will again be an incremental improvement.
The second figure is 250bhp. The reasoning behind this is that the engine is capable of it, the rivals will all be above this, and the "R" should have 300 so the GTI will be 50 below it.
I hope it's the latter.

In all honesty do we think it will be 250?
Considering we play a numbers game and the ED30 had 230, the ED35 235, the mk5 GTi 200, Mk6 GTi 210, then 220 for the mk7 seems the mot likely, with of course 240 for the ED40!
Unless the mk7 is something really special looks wise and overall quality / desirable, then I may well look elsewhere.
Still thinking at present of getting a new Astra VXR for 2 years until saved for either the mk7 GTi or new S3.
I assume we are all thinking going by that post on Autobild that if the mk7 is launched October 2012 we won't see the GTI launched till frankfurt Sep 2013, with UK deliveries around April 2014?

Those look like the pictures that were about in 2009 Leaked MK7 Pics (http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200633)
In fact they look like the leaked pictures of the MK6

The blurb said it would be a 220bhp GTI, and mentions a 180 and 150 Diesel...
Doesnt really matter, unless they drop the prices I`ll be priced out of a new one, so will just keep my GTD.
-
interesting reading that the R brand bosses are saying deisel and AWD is the future!
Sounds really good, but what does that mean for the mk7 GTi, assume we will still get a Petrol 220bhp?
Dave

Well there's several aspects to consider.
First of all, VW have cleverly positioned the GTI so that it is not too close to the R. Now, with the Mk6 generation VW already had an engine lined up in the form of the S3 engine. It made sense therefore to only incrementally increase the GTI so that it sat comfortably under the 265 output of the R.
For the Mk7 generation, from what I've gathered VW will be introducing a new engine into the R model which will allow for a significant increase in power. From this has stemmed the rumours of 300+ bhp. If this is the case then VW will have a bit more room under the R model to give the GTI power which is at least competitive.
Secondly, the GTI's rivals are now all comfortably over the 250hp bracket. The Focus ST has 250, the Astra has 280, the Megane has 250, the MPS has 265 and there is also the forthcoming Mercedes hot-hatch to consider. Of course, from the VAG line up it will be the Cupra which is given the power to go up against the heavyweights, but even still, I don't foresee VW further distancing the GTI (negatively) from it's competitors.
-
I won't be touching one at 220 for the price they'll no doubt charge. It's taking the Michael whe everyone else is offering so much more.
And, yes, I'll also be priced out of one anyway

Think most of you are jumping the gun a bit on the future mark 7.
Make no mistake no one really knows what the new Golf will be ( really ) like but we do know is the Golf is VW most important car so it needs to be the best and at worse competitive.
So what do we know ? It will sit lower and wider with the back wheel arches being more prominent. it's been mentioned in the motoring press that the new Golf will shed 60kg in weight. Now if you were to drive the current 210bhp engine with the loss of 60kg in weight to the car you will notice a huge difference in power. My money is on the GTI going from 100 bhp to 130 bhp add the weight loss and you have a very much faster GTI.
For me my next car will be the Golf GTI simply because for sure it will be the best all round package hot hatch on the road.
I have rejoined the forum and could not remember my password so to stop the hassle I rejoined. I'm on my second GTI which I love the car still brings a smile to my face charging down a B road.
Chill out folks the next Golf will be a cracker wait till the Geneva motor show in March where the mark 7 Golf will get it's first public showing. That is when judgement can be made on it's looks not before.

The biggest threat I currently foresee to my purchase of the Mk7 GTI is the appeal of a Touran.
