I've tried to take one off my old gti so that i can help someone on saturday hopefully fix there car! so far i've just taken the column completeley out it attachess to? Is it locked on some how? or It must come off because you can buy replacements! anyone got any how to pics please cheers

Headless screw on it. Needs to be drilled out then replaced by a screw I think.

cheers got this screw out already though still cant get it off its as if theres something else holding it together :sad:

Yarp! Steering lock is just a spring loaded piston that goes through a hole in the mounting arrangement. They are a pain in the arse to remove, but thats the whole point. Take the steeing lock off, and it should come out with a bit of jiggery pokery. :smiley:

You need to drill a hole in the metal barrel housing to release the barrel.. This is from a Seat Ibiza but its the same on the mk3 Golf..
