Title: really need some help on polo

got a polo sat on the drive been there a while with the box gone its a 1998 1.4 16v what i need to no is will a standard 1.4 8v box fit on it i no the ratios will be wrong but as long as it fits i dnt care just want the car on the road again before the weather gets bad

thanks any help would be great

I am sure they are the same apart from ratios.

should be the same, only differences is the linkages on the gearbox itself and ratios inside

Been told that if u try fitting a rod change box on a cable change car all the linkages have to be changed to??????

Ok my box is a cable change and found this local
    
Gearbox is of a 2001 1.4 mk5 polo part number is 085301103s and it's a ETD code my car is a late 1998 afh 16v which I think is cable change

Please help I'm so confused guys really need a hand

So will a 6n2 cable box fit a 6n cable
