I suspect I have a hefty boost leak as my car is peaking at 5psi less than it use to so naturally the next step is to test for leaks.
I know some of the guys here have fancy boost leak testers but I was wondering what I can make at home and also the procedure for testing.
Firstly, can I use a car tyre inflator?
Where do I connect the leak testing kit to? Is it simply a case of removing my MAF and connecting it in to the TIP or should I plug it in post turbo, say in to the charge pipe?
Do I remove the oil cap to relieve crank case pressure incase a wee bit leaks through?

Sounds like u are in limp mode ?
I made my tester from a bean can mate, remove maf and plumb in here. Tyre inflator did not work for me so I use a propper compressor and 30psi
U need to block a breather too a d remove oil cap. Theirs a video on YouTube of someone doing same as me on a TT I can't link u up now as I'm on my phone but if u can't find it I'll post the link later

It's not limp mode mate, still peaking at 19/20psi, just not the 24psi that it used to.
My breather goes to a catch can so should I just unplug the catch can and block the 19mm breather hose?

I get you, thought u meant u was only getting 5psi
I blocked the thick breather that goes to the round disc looking thing to the side of the cam cover (right hand side) use a set of mole grips
Put the air connection into a bean can and seal it, then fit this into the TIP
As I say, only way I could get decent pressure was to use a compressor

I will look at your 114 logs in the morning,
I have flat lined all the air temp and pressure correction to a correction of 1 so your logs should marry up to my dyno logs.
The only way the ecu would reduce power is if its seeing constant knock control, in the mapping I make this reduce the power by 15% to keep safe.

There is a fair amount of knock control happening when giving it some but I don't know what is normal and what isn't.
Booted it up a slip road last night and it spiked 22psi, held 20psi across the range.
It's quite deciptive because the map is so damn smooth that it doesn't feel that fast but the speedo still climbs rapidly :grin:
Just seems to lack that oomph it had when I first left yours. Maybe the Scottish air lol
