mines a mk4, was going to take out the two centre vents, cut the one closest to me so i can fit the tom tom in there, then wire it up so that one of the button blanks turns it on, then obviously block up the part behind it so that all the hot air comes out of the other vent so that i dont get an over heating sat nav :D
-
would be better if it was in the centre. keep the rev counter
-
What would happen if the satnav needed to be updated?
Would the entire unit have to be removed? (and is removing the clocks a bit of a PITA like mk2 clocks?)
Does the satnav detach from the clocks or would you have to plug the entire thing in to update?
Kinda clever, but as said, would be better keeping the rev counter and putting the satnav into the dash.

Neat idea but looks a bit cack... To update it I would like to think he left the USB cable plugged in it with the other end being accessible somewhere else in the dash.

I'd rather do it properly and get a tablet / smartphone, perma hooked up to the ODBII port with BT dongle and using one of the many apps that can read and display data in Widgets from the car, like Torque

That would have been miles better
