Title: Metal Water Pipe - poor quality parts, beware
Post by: mk28vpb91 on 12 November 2011, 18:12
Today's fixing ended up in disaster after the water pipe that I had bought from EuroCarparts proved to be a really really bad copy of the original. Not only did I have to beat the crap out of it to make it fit between the oil cooler and the engine mount but after getting everything together it leaked very very badly from one of the offtake pipes. Should have checked the pipe a lot more carefully than I did before starting the job. If any of you are due to do a similar job soon make sure that you check the bits you get well when you get them. The pipe needs to be really flat where it passes by the oil cooler (around 13mm). Here's the ~ 2mm hole:

Couldn't refit the old one, as it more or disintegrated when removed - Radweld must have been the only thing that was keeping it together.

Thats shocking! Missed welding on a WATER pipe. Very shoddy indeed!
