So I've been looking really forward to Halo Anniversary, being a huge Halo fan. Got it preordered at Gamestation ages ago. Thought I'd pop into Tesco just to mooch around, and there to my surprise was Halo Anniversary, sitting there in its glory.
At a bargain price of £27.70 and getting it 4 days early, who am I to complain?
-
Didnt Tesco do this with Halo 3 and they got a massive fine of MS because of it.
-
no publicity is bad publicity as they say. Despite the fine just think how many people will rush down there to buy it.. and even if they cannot, they will remember to pick up some bread, milk, toothpaste and crap loads of double priced BOGOF sh!t
-
R32, that's a fair point. But even so, 4 days early is quite extreme. I'm not complaining though.
Just for the record, it plays exactly the same, but the graphics are awesome. Love the switch back to classic mode too.
-
Online co op can be very leggy at times but apart from that, it's awesome. You won't believe the difference in quality of graphics!
-
its an odd experience playing the revamped game... But a lot of fun. The enemies are all in the same places etc!
Its good to have the achievments to unlock, ive enjoyed a couple of the harder ones!
-
Likewise, getting achievements was a bonus. I only have two left but one is impossible. Complete the library without dying on heroic or harder. No chance!
-
That does sound like a tricky one, but a bit of methodical patience should see it done. The Library in 30mins on legendary has to be worse! I took a run through the level on easy and it took a little over 15 mins.... Its going to be a tough nut to crack!
-
not played halo but these sound like the things that needed to be done on n64 goldeneye to unlock the cheats, ah they were good times
-
I got the speed reader one on my first try through, just be patient with it. Bandana skull and unlimited shotgun ammo helps.
-
I do enjoy a bit of bandana shotgun action!
I managed the Library on Herioc after a couple of trys, saving the 30 min Legendary challange for a wet weekend!
Have you done the 'complete a level on herioc without taking health damage'? I was thinking trying it on level 1, pilar of autumn, should be the easiest one to do it on?
-
Yeah mate, first level was easiest for that, you're allowed to take shield damage but no bars are allowed to go down.
I gotta do library without dying now, you bellend.
-
cool,
just take it slow, deal with each wave of flood before moving on to trigger the next lot... And watch out for the rocket launcers!
I'll see how I get on with the health damage one this evening. Got the start of a mild cold on the go, so a perfect excuse for a night infront of the TV!
-
Hey Rob, I just did that Library without dying achievement. I'm so happy!
I throught I was going to die at one point with 1 bar of health left.
All I have to do now is complete the Two Betrayals level without killing grunts and I have done 100%!!!
-
Seeing as its exactly the same but has had a bit of spit and polish applied; is it worth getting.
Frankly, I'd be a bit bored playing it knowing what was coming around the corner every time.
-
It depends on if you enjoyed the first one enough to play through again. I personally loved the first one and play it more often than the newer ones.
Seeing it again but with better graphics just makes everything so much better.
-
Same. I liked the feel of the first one, which was never replicated in the later games, so would still play the original a lot (do like reach a lot though). It is a bit for the fans!
Congrats on getting the library done shady! its a tentative buisiness dodging all those poppers!
I was unduly worried about doing the library in 30 mins, as it dosent count time when you die- just your 'clean' run between checkpoints, bit of a relief getting that done. So grunts on betrayls is all ive got left too I think.

For me Halo 1 was the best Halo they ever made. At the time I played it on PC so I understand my experience of multi-player is somewhat better than the Xbox players at that time (which was rubbish supposedly - Halo 2 kicked it off for Xbox Multi-player).
For me Halo Anniversary feels weird, but in a mostly good way. The updated graphics are really good, but the engine hasn't been updated so Master Chief still runs up ladders rather than climbing etc. Also, the updated graphics make it feel like you are playing a new Halo, and yet there are none of the functions of Reach (I particularly am missing Sprint ). It's little things like this that betray the true age of the game, despite the fantastic graphics.
But that having been said, even in 'Old Skool' mode it's still one of the finest Co-op campaigns there is so I'm not bothered at all.
-
They never touched the game engine because they wanted to keep it true to the original which I think worked for the better. All the glitches are still there like before, all they did was lay the Reach engine over the old coding.
I thouroughly enjoyed it anyway, and now I've completed my first Halo game 100%. The others are just a pain because many achievements mean playing online which I don't like doing much on Halo as other games take me away.
