Hi all,
Just wondering does anyone use a cover on their rear bench? I'm after one that's a decent fit for the mk2 ideally something that straps on firmly and is waterproof.
We're having to sell our runabout which means I'll have to let the dog go in the back of the golf, horror of horrors, so need a good way of protecting the seat from muddy paws, or like today when the cat went to the vet and pissed in the car (thankfully not my car!)
Long shot I know as I'm sure most people have more pride in their mk2 than to have a stinky dog in the back but hoping someone may have a good recommendation.
Cheers

I've never seen one that is a proper fit... Problem is the Top rear Mounts and holes needed in it to fit...
Have you thought about using another bench just for the dog? It's only 2 screws to take it out...
I May have one knocking about - For a few quid & I'm in Sheffield!

My mate has one from halfrauds its grey his is a five door gti 16ver looks okay but not a snug fit I think it was cheap but like you kitty its for the dogs just measure the width, height, depth and ebay car cover for seats or google it?

Like Ken said, get a spare seat, or better still, just take it out completely when you take the dogs and put an old duvet down for them to lie on.

i had to dogs in the back of a car once problem with the covers is there ok if the dog dosnt move but when there scratting about in the back they pull the covers off

Yea I would swap it or store it but I've got no where safe to put it other than in the house and then it'd still get sat on by animals! Also the parcel shelf is some sort of great heavy thing I can't take out as it's got speakers wired in underneath from a prev owner. Got a blanket over the seat at the mo but I'm having the straighten it out every two mins which is really annoying especially with it being a 2 door and one of the front seats is bust and won't got forward any more
If there's nothing that'd be a good fit available ready made I may have to think about trying to make something myself :undecided:

You not got a loft or Garage? They dont take up much space when folded in half...
-
cant you just get a cage and put the dogs in the back or make them walk
-
No garage and loft hatch isn't very big (plus loft very full!)
Can't put a crate in the boot as I can't take parcel shelf out due to stupid speaker arrangement

Dull question, but why not change to a standard shelf with no silly speakers in it?
-
That's a good shout to be fair. If needed I have a recaro rear bench you can have if you get to that route

Cause that's effort, and would have to buy new speakers for the back with money I don't possess (or wouldn't have sold the nice big focus with the dog box in the boot!). And then I'd probably still want some sort of cover I can take off and clean to keep it looking reasonably tidy.
I think just putting a cover over the seat is the easiest and cheapest option tbh, that's why I wondered if anyone knew of any that fit the mk2 well.
