Hi all, first post..so please be gentle.. :smiley:

I want to fit a switch in the boot that would activate my central locking (lock and unlock)..
anyone done anything similar ?

easy. Just locate the green and grey wires that go to the drivers door lock, pass 12v through either and the car will lock/unlock.

Use a momentary DPST rocker to make it work.

yeah eventually...
but last winter i totally broke both front locks and snapped a key due to the cold...and thought/hoped that having a 'spare' switch in the boot would help get through the freeze!

I'm glad I found this thread as ive got a genuine VW central locking dash switch that I've had for yonks and wasn't sure on how to go about installing it.

The problem is that the 12v switch only works when the engine is off; you can't lock the car with the switch whilst the engine is running.

The way around this I've seen is people using an actuator it pull/push the metal rod that goes to the drivers door pin.
