Good Evening to All,
I know this is a fairly common problem/subject, but I've just bought the above car and as advised by the seller, the fuel gauge doesn't work. Any ideas how to fix this?
One other thing, despite being the 'MK4' the car still has the dash from the MK3, is it possible to swap out the mk3 dash and replace it with one from MK4? If so, is there anything I should be aware of in terms differences and so on?
Many thanks for your assistance
Cheers

It is not a mk4 but a mk3 with a update to look like a mk4, mk4 dash will need lots of work to fit.
Fuel guage could be down to a faulty sender.

ok, thats fine....was just an idea i had and yeh, i kinda realised that it wasnt REALLY a MK4, but something somewhere in between!!
the 'sender', where is that located and how much do they generally cost?
is it a job i could do myself or should i just let someone that properly knows what theyre doing get on with it??
thanks again for the advice
cheers

Sender is under a plate on top of the fuel tank.

i take it, the plate above the fuel plate is under the carpet and so on...would it be on the right hand side near the fuel filler or the left?
thanks

Near the fuel filler, built it with the lift pump, I think they can sometimes be hard to remove.
