Hey guys.
Can anyone shed any light on this matter... Is it going to be a massive job or relatively "easy"? Can it be done or is it better to just by a vr6?
Cheers
James

You have answered your question

piss easy, a day or 2 and its all done
but its been covered a zillion times, there is a search function on this forum
-
Plus. I wouldn't drop it into it might damage the car. Use a hoist.

No point mate might aswell buy a vr6. Personally if i was you and wanted to keep your gti but make it faster i'd go for the 1.8 t lump out of the mk4 it will be faster straight away and its a hell of a lot more customizable if you want more power. Only thing is i dont think its that straight foward to do
-
1.8t is very straight forward, no more work than a vr6 just more money and a few custom parts needed (which are all readily available and easy to get hold of)
-
Thanks guys!
I figured I had answered my own question... Just wanted to see if it was possible and if it was a mission!
I'm not interested in the 1.8t lump, I want the sound of the 6 cylinder! Hmmmmmm.... Sex on wheels :)

I think I actually prefer the sound of my 1.8t to the vr6, with the right engine mods and exhaust it can sound just as mean. different, but just as mean

If you want to do this conversion mate you can do it very cheaply, buy an MOT failed VR for around £400, transfer over everything you need, sell everything thats left and reap the rewards.
I managed to get a Highline for £400, got the engine, running gear and Leathers out of it, sold everything else off it I could, and my old interior and gearbox, and made about £300-£400 back, then weighed in what was left to the new 'Car Takeback Scheme' and got £165 for that BONUS
-
i also prefer the sound of my S3 lump, would not swap if for anything unless it was something like a Zonda  its that grunt noise when i plant the foot, think it is down to the mods i have, but i lurrrve it, its not over the top it just sounds mean and it does what it says on the tin sort of sound haha.. no messing about, no raucous brapping.. just sheer powwwa
Wouldn't fit a engine for the sake of any noise tho.. thats just ghay...
Bens the daddy tho with them bazooka tubes poking out his rear.. i can hear him 10 miles away
