Title: derv injectors
Post by: EsSeX dAn on 10 November 2011, 15:56
with diesel injectors on a non pd engine,if an injector plays up so it making the engine clatter,is it the whole unit to be replaced or just the nozzle? reason i ask is i was doing some research and says something about excessive noise stopping when you crack the union nut off for the injector basically its faulty

Depends on the nozzle design.

It could just be the nozzle/shimming is worn and needs replacing in which case you would need to crack them open, re-shim/spring and then retorque them, and do a pop test on testing machine.

Or

They could just need cleaning (ultrasonically) to get the crap off them.

I think in this instance it will be a case of getting on google and having a ring around.

There is always the option to build/buy your own pop tester & ultrasonic bath (although that's the expensive route  )
