I think you possibly use Office 2007.

I stuck my disc in and it just upgraded everything for me even had my old folders in the right place.
The only thing I suggest is that you save a PST file which stores most of the data for the way you have your folders and addresses I think.
I hated 2010 too many sub tool Bars for liking

Right this is where it all goes wrong for me!

Which option do I choose?
-
in most circumstances you'd select pop3 and pop the in your email log on and password together with your email inbound and outbound server addresses... eg. mail.btinternet.com and smtp.btinternet.com

Oh this old chest nut if its Hotmail you wanna hook up then use outlook connect you need to down load this so it connects through your live account to set up your email. You could only do the old way back in 2003 its all about outlook connect these days Len.
Follow this link its pretty good!

•Download and install Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector.
•Select Outlook Connector | Add a New Account... from the menu in Outlook.
•Type your Windows Live Hotmail address under E-mail address:.
•Enter your Windows Live Hotmail password under Password:.
•Type your name under Name:.
•Click OK.
•Click OK again.
•Restart Outlook.
IMAP is good for Gmail accounts as long as you change the setting in your Gmail account to provide a IMAP to outlook!

Len is trying to set up access to his work email account.

if you're trying to use it to view/send emails with your work email address it's a whole different ball game. they're usually msx and local network only unless you're friendly with the IT chaps.

Okay then its a pain in the arse as he has to set protocals for his work to accept a outside. He needs secondline support.
-
now the real question is why does len want sly access to his work emails at home... secret porn stash?

We have an external webmail address but I cant seem to get access that way. So am trying to do it through Outlook, or at least have Outlook working on my PC to see if I can then access it!

Webmail would be a lot easier to set up at home on outlook gets complicated otherwise, IT department business
-
I can get into our Intranet at home so will try the webmail address on that next.

Best to ask IT for the info/help setting it up on your personal laptop/PC, I could tell you how to do it but if you're not meant to and get caught (quite easily) you'll get into trouble and possibly sacked depending on the Computer misuse policy. So I'm doing you a flavor
