Post by: wardster77 on 02 May 2005, 20:21
Hi all,

I have a Mk4 Golf GTI (115 bhp) petrol and was wondering if anyone knows what sort of engine oil i need to top the car up with?
Ive been told that i need special oil which costs about £60 !!
Does anyone know if this is true or can i chuck any equivilent oil in!!
Its a 51 plate

Cheers

Use VW Quantum, Synthetic blend oil and you'll be alright.

10W - 40, You can get it from VW, around £15 for 5L

Aye, go to VAG and ask them, at a guess you probably need to run Quantum syntra gold or possibly silver, either way it aint £60 a throw that's for sure.
