iam in 20 minds wether to sell my golf been out of work now over a month and theres nothing.. my golf is garaged and altho its safe tucked away we could do with the money but then i think ive spent so much on it id never make my money back i dont want to break it and end up with bits and bobs every where, i could keep it but then when i get it back out how do a know ill be in work then am buggered with insurance costs etc as i have 9points i really dont know what to do my missis wont give me an answer as she knows how much i love it............ :undecided: really dont know what to do

Selling it is a short term solution. You get a bit of cash then spunk that straight away..
Then you get a job, buy another one, spend more modding it and then before you realise it you've spent more then you planned.
You're lucky you have somewhere to keep it. The fact the missus won't give you an answer proves you don't really need the money.
So keep it!!

Ah now that is one of the female ploys!
If she hasnt said you should keep it then in her opinion she thinks it should be sold.
She is just expecting you to reach the "right" decision!
(HERS!)

Ahhhh ever the synic!
I'd keep hold of it if I were you, and if she starts on you for 'not reaching the right decision', plead ignorance and say you thought she wanted you to keep it because her inability to give you a straightforward answer! :smug:

just spoke to her and she said ill regret it lol so dont know what to do
-
Keep it!!!!!
-
Keep it, you will only gain in the short term if you sell it.

Im thinking the same as you, cant really justify the tug boats running costs atm so looking at a bus pass and mountain bike while I save a bit of cash up and reduce my debt.
Tough call mate, i feel your pain
-
thing is we have a ford focus we use daily now while golf garaged and the crankshells have started knocking so if they go were buggered as a dont fancy forking out how ever much it will cost when they do go bang
then were stuck with half a focus and a garaged golf  which is a killer on insurance due 2 my 9points and mods

Well if the insurance is a killer then maybe it is the time to look at selling up.

Shame really as its one of the nicest mk4s ive seen on this forum and after the money and time youve put in to get it there seems a waste it being sat in your garage and you not being able to use the car.I would maybe keep it till next year as xmas isnt a great time to be selling your car anyway and in the mean time your luck might change. If things dont improve then maybe next year sell it and go with a cheaper option see what happens
-
thinking in the long run even once ive done what i want to do and get her back out insurance will be a killer :undecided:
it will kill me to sell  but i dont see away out of it really :undecided:
-
it still has long m.o.t on so that would help me sell but ive started sanding down the tailgate and couple other bits so its gonna need a respray, plus has no headlights as i havent purchased new 1s yet dont know if its worth me carrying on only for me not 2 be able afford insurance as i was paying 172 a month and my renewal shot up to nearly 300 which is 1 of the reasons aswell as winter kicking in i garaged her.............
do i carry on
or do i sell
-
just spent nearly an hour doing a for sale add in classifieds and couldnt  press the post butten
-
considering what ive spent and theres still 7months left on m.o.t HOW MUCH u recken its worth as it stands would need a respray as ive started sanding, no headlights either, couple of grab handles need spraying but i can finish them has got a big spec of mods etc wheels are mint with decent tyres on it needs nothing mechanicaly recnt cambelt kit and water pump loads more spec in here

What were you doing before Mate?? We are looking for welders & warehouse peeps here where I work. Get a CV sorted and I'll let you know who to contact. Some folks come from Buxton so you could car share
-
Oh yeah....................................and don't sell

Nothing cynical about that!
Just experience that nearly 40 years of marriage brings!

What benefits will you get by selling it?
Sounds like the focus is on it's way out. Sell it. Buy a Polo as your new daily

Sounds to me as if it will take a lot of money and time to get it into a saleable condition anyway!
