Title: holding back?
Post by: darren1.8t on 08 November 2011, 08:40
hi guys my bora 115 tdi has been mapped but at 3000rpm it holds back? unless i feed the throttle? i put a new airflow on her and there are no fault codes now? also the turbo sounds very whistley if you no what i mean??? i cleaned the egr out and noticed the manifold was sooted up!! could it be that causing the holding back or could it be the turbo?

mine had a map on when i bought it - lad said his 'mate' did it
it was ok-ish but not great. seemed to be a delayed power shunt when accelerating.

so did some logging on it - found out it was really bad so got it changed - boost was spiking and fuel was turned up across whole rev range to max.

now i run a very smooth upsolute map. Took 3 versions to get it how it is now. I don't like a massive kick of torque
prefer the more linear delivery

If your turbo is getting louder then it could be on its way out  :undecided:

Get the TIP off and try and check for any play in the shaft.  Catch it now and you'll save yourself a couple hundred quid in rebuilding the turbo

Get the pipework checked out for boost leaks too; you might have a split which only opens up under full load
