hi all...curious to hear frm all valver owners who have either of the above fitted...
have read on the pros/cons of both but want to hear 'straight from the horses mouth' so to speak
cheers, nice one

Just fitted mine yesturday and done about 15 miles with it on... much smoother and responsive, nice growl too!
Just getting it ready for AmD to chip it!
(Pipercross Viper Kit - Had to modify the bracket to fit, filed the hole bigger and put bend in to get level - very easy to fit, come with destructions but they were rubbish... )

How mucho did you pay for the induction kit if you don't mind me asking ? I'm still undecided about which induction kit to get for mine.
-
May have been somewhere around the £90 squid mark... possibley... maybe... :lipsrsealed:
Don't think there would be that much difference between brands, K&N, Pipercross... SSDI (same sh1t different induction-kit)
-

Does the induction kit not guzzle the fuel?
I've got a bog standard K+N air filter on my bady, dont actually think its made any difference, but would be interested in the induction kit IF it doesnt drastically effect fuel consumption!
-
i had an induction kit on my old car and it drank like a fish (do fish drink?). :undecided:
Fitted a panel filter and 70mm cold feed to my 8v and fuel comp is better (slightly) if anything and it feels smoother if nothing else.
-
Not sure about it guzzling fuel as i've only done 15 miles since its been fitted... logic would suggest that its there not just to let more air in but be more responsive in doing so, may of course then let more air in and therefore burn more fuel but that wouldn't be noticable... quite often its because you tend to become more heavy on the old right foot!! Basically you're putting the same amount of fuel in but managing to burn more of it with the colder, more dense air... therefore theoretically making it more efficient. All depends if the ecu puts more fuel in to compensate more air, which i think it does... So in short, I have no f*ckin clue
Deffinately noticed a smoother power range and little more quicker to rev...
-
MPG will drop, especially if you have a heavy right foot

I put a K&N induction kit on my VR6, Filter, connecter and cool air ram tube.
Made a bloody awsome induction roar, lowered the fuel consumption lots and knocked 5mph of the top end.
I've put the standard air box back on and run a quality replacement, It was made that way for a reason!
I just fitted a cold air induction tube direct from the front of the car behind the grill under the bumper
To be honest with you, Unless youve fitted a cam or fiddled with you're injection your engine aint gonna out suck the standard but cold air fed air box.
-
experience tells me the same thing. keep your airbox ,put a decent panel filter in it and feed it more cold air.
-
Just goes to show, NEVER JUDGE A FILTER BY ITS PRETTY BOX!
Look at Race team, wot are they using ??? Panel filters.
Superbikes, moto gp, F1, they all use panel filters, must be the way foward.
Sucky sucky

I've got a K+N panel filter on my 8v Gti.
How do I fit an additional "cold feed" and where do I conect it too. I can attatch it too the mesh grill under the bumber ok but where does the other end connect too???
Sorry if this is obvious, but i an not mechanically minded! :undecided:

Mk3 ? if so you need 70mm tube. this will replace the old air feed but when you see how small it is you'll be suprised your car worked at all. take your airbox out. once out take all that 45 degree elbow bit out of the bottom. it's a bit of a fiddle but it will come out. once it's out you'll be left with a 70 ish mm hole. on the top side of the hole on the outide of the box there's a little rectanglular bit that'll need filing off. At the same time bevel the edge of the whole round opening to make the 70 mm airfeed tube easier to get on and hey presto!

i think the only time they use more petrol is because you keep flooring it just to hear that noise!
the dilled box and panal filter gives you an aggressive roar noise!!
my old 84 k jet....sounded like a V8.....that was an insaine noise!! and it had a standard exhaust!!
