Title: Hmmm thats not good
Post by: VW BUSH on 05 November 2011, 17:40
Just got quoted £700 for TPFT and £805 for FC (both with PNCB) for my 98 Mk3 8v
Got my renewal coming up in the new year, 9yrs ncb and 35 yrs of age seems to make no difference in sutton.
Thats £300 more than i paid for the car!

I AM NOW GRUMPY

I paid £550 at 22 on my Mk3 8v Gti with all the mods declared, would have been circa £450 without mods

I was with you (HIC) until Jan this year when my policy went up 40% due to snow last year!(likley story) It went from £380 tpft to £560 witn no accidents or claims......
So I went with (cheapest) Admiral who did me £420 for a fully comp policy + pncb with £1000 excess.
This was so I could treat it as a third party and save on your renewal quote for tpft.
When I swapped over to my new Golf, same model, same amount of valves, less value, Admiral charged me £210 extra as my car was 3 years newer, this put me at £630 for this years cover.
Now I check for what next year is going to be like its gone up to £800 tpft and £760 fully com with £1000 excess again.

Quite frankly I think i will give up the golf and walk in the new year, just not worth it when you have to keep a roof over your head.
If I cant get £400 cover (which is what the car cost me) then its getting sorned and broken up.
Ironey is that the cost for me to insure a new car is the same, which would have to be paid out on if it got damaged.........
