Had the car in yesterday to investigate the knocking noise from the rear passenger side that i have been hearing for the last couple of weeks,
After a good look around and removing wheels, springs, shocks, spring cups etc and refitting all to try and eliminate this noise,
Test drive time and the noise is still there
I have had a search around the different forums and not come up with much apart from spring cups and rear axle bushes, ?
Any ideas  Answers on a postcard please

I've heard of this problem but this was on the front due the arm in the picture below not being tightened properly.

Thanx Awry,
Everything was checked for tightness incl droplinks at rear
I was wondering if the stretch bolts was replaced in the front subframe when i had my anti roll bars replaced, the noise sounds like it is coming from the rear, but noises can travel and hard to pinpoint ? will ask them on Monday

this could be favourite :undecided:

Im sure i remember a rear passenger side suspension problem that effected the mk5's but i cannot find it. :undecided:
The reason i originally looked for it was mine bangs on the passenger side rear when im in it alone but i think its more down to poor door catch adjustment on the rear passenger door due to mine been a 5 door were yours is a 3 as mine does not do it if theres someone in the back of the car on that side.

Those ball things on the end of the parcel shelf strings are a favourite for casuing mysterious knocking sounds from the arse end.
Exhausts hitting ARBs are another cause of noises.
These things drive you nuts when it's not an obvious cause ....

Problem sorted
Put the standard shocks back on the rear today and no more banging/knocking noise,
Think it could be the bottom bushes in the KWs ?
-
Great. Glad you found the source of the problem. :)
Is it the KW DCC you have? I'm considering them.

Awry,
It is the KW V3s i have fitted, May look at getting the clubsports or look at something else like the ASTs from VWR ?

Do they support DCC as well?
These are the ones I was looking at -> http://www.kw-suspensions.eu/int/kw_ddc.php (http://www.kw-suspensions.eu/int/kw_ddc.php)

you can get ACC specific KW's but they're expensive
-
The KW shocks on that kit Neil had already been replaced once due the lower bushes separating from the shock body.
When I bought those I was a big KW fan, but having since had the same problem on my Mk5 track car on KW v3's and now having run the AST's for a few months I won't ever be buying KW again.

Steve
Having looked at the shocks today, you can see daylight through where the rubber sits in the metal ring on the bottom of the shocks,
Not good, how old are they Steve was these off your mk5 or did you get them new for the mk6 ?
-
New on the Mk6, have a word with Matt at VWR when he's back, he might be able to sort something out

No just got a new oem one to try and eliminate the problem, must have been a dodgy seal ?
