Right just a quick one iv got black rear lights that need red bulbs! That's fine so I got red bulbs and desided they look alittle pale! Got some red LED ones that show up great but when you turn the lights on and tap the brake two of the little LEDs stay on both sides? If you unplug one the other goes out so what gives? I'm using them as brake lights btw!
Iv also tried rotating them etc iv changed the backing cluster and tried two differt kinds of led bulbs! If i only have one plugged in it works totally fine album guessing they just not like mk3's? If so anyone recommend good normal bulbs?
-
Ive converted my rear bulb holders to take ALL led bulbs and ive not had a problem bar the usual ballast resistor to stop the indicators flashing too fast.
Have you got the correct bulb?If i remember rightly they are twin contact twin filament?Staggered bayonet fitting?
-
Right I'm pretty sure there right bulbs cos they work totally perfect as brake lights only play up after you put the side lights on? Obviously they have like 12 LEDs or whatever which all work fine but when you put your lights on 2 of the LEDs on both lights stay on the rest still work as they should?
What ones did you use for you rear side lights anyway the normal ones are too big to fit the whole or did you just cut it bigger?
-
Oh and don't forget if I unplug one of the brake lights the other led works perfect no matter what! Do I need a full set of led bulbs rather mice an matched Maybe?
-
I just cut them bigger dude, the whole back of the lights have been cut and then plastic welded up as the lights are modded to remove the red reflectors inside the lights themselves hence why i am using all LED bulbs.

They came like this from the factory.

The bulbs were all this style.

I also wired in both reversing lights to act as an extra side light as i prefer a bit of symmetry.

I have the same lights with the red taken out too! And i have bulbs with single bit on the end? I'm guessing that'll be the problem! I'm sure my normal bulbs have single bit on the end! Ima go look lol it's annoying me!
-
Im pretty sure the bulbs are twin contact(the metal bit on the bottom) twin filament(2 bits that light up in a standard bulb) This is always the case if the bulb is a stop/tail.
Show us ya lights!
-
okay i had a look and all my other bulbs including normal ones are single metal bit at the end? dont forget the brake and side light are sperate bulbs yea? so surly the brake light is only a brake light? am i being daft or something?
Heres the only pic i have atm lol
