hi all how difficult is it to change manifold gaskets on a 20 gti 8v
-
An absolute ball ache! The mani bolts will probably be corroded as feck, and you will loose lots of skin off your knuckles in the process. Easiest.......well, easier way is to do it from underneath, so if you can get the car up a bit, thats your best bet to take the mani off.

As above, much easier from underneath or with the car on a ramp.

And if the studs snap off its even worse and more £££.
Soak them in plus gas and pray
