Title: Teperature gauge acting up

Hi, my '88 8v has a bit of a strange temperature gauge, if I leave it idle for long enough it will heat up to about half way, then if i drive it it goes down nearly to the start, if i dont let it idle and just drive it it will take ages before it heats up.

I had similar problem, changed the thermostat and all is well now.
