Title: no power getting to starter solenoid........
Post by: whit on 31 October 2011, 10:59
i'm getting no voltage at the trigger wire (red/black) on the starter solenoid when turning the ignition key.

have tested the wire at the back of ignition switch and getting 12v there so somewhere inbetween the circuit is broken.

apart from the immobiliser (autowatch 239ti) does this wire go anywhere else?

is there any other likely cause?

cheers lads

Had the same problem on mine. Had to bypass the red wire by giving it a direct live.
Removed the Laser alarm and all sorted now. No more issues

Yep, but thought that will allow it to start then cut the ignition??
His problem is it's not turning over.

Had to bypass the red wire by giving it a direct live.

how did you do that? did it involve having a switch/start button?

any idea why it was causing this problem?

thanks

It's not the best way around it, but it worked every time my alarm played up.
With the small wire/plug to the starter I attached a same sized wire to it by cutting it in, then with the ignition on (not in gear!!!) the touched the live on the battery. It started. Saved me when I was out and stuck.
This not good for all parts concerned but will save you if it's the same problem

I can only think of the alarm you have the micro swith or relay inside is playing up like mine.
Mine would work for days then turn the key and nothing!! Once I ripped out all the alarm system its been fine ever since. Hope this helps but becareful you don't knacker your electrics or starter
